I recently attended the Learn from Google for Publishers event in LA and one of the big things the Google Team talked about was Mobile Internets Users.

Over the past year or so I've seen a huge increase in mobile traffic.  In fact this year I expect to get more traffic from mobile users versus regular desktop users.

I have a couple questions for everyone out there.

  1. What percentage of your traffic is mobile? If you have Google Analytics just go to your sidebar navigation and click Audience | Mobile | Overview.
  2. Are you doing anything to support your mobile users?

I don't get much mobile traffic. It has gone up over the past year or two.

My mobile traffic has increased substantially over the past few years:

2010 - 7%
2011 - 19%
2012 - 37%
2013 - 47% - so far

By the way, the folks at Google said that the number of mobile users varies quite a bit depending on the website.  They asked a few people in the audience what kind of mobile traffic they were receiving and some people were already getting over 50% mobile traffic while others were as low as 5%.
