I so rarely get to do this, so get ready: that blog post I did - the Q&A interview with the woman who owns the dog bakery? (California Dreamer Starts All Natural Dog Treat Bakery) got 65 hits yesterday and 62 hits the day before....I haven't checked my stats yet to see where they are all coming from. Wow. Wow. Wow.

One of the bits of magic in doing interviews is that the other person has plenty of incentive to send traffic your way, since they're being presented on your blog as an expert, a celeb, or somehow worthy of attention from you and your readers. The bigger their audiences are, the faster yours will grow.
The only caveat is that your readers always come first: no matter how big the other person's audience may be, if the interview topic and info shared aren't interesting to your readers, it can hurt your long term growth as much as help.

Permalink Reply by Kathy H Porter on February 16, 2013 at 4:50am @Tom - when I came up with this idea, my first thought was how my own readers would benefit from whatever info these interviews would reveal - every business ventures, regardless of what it is, has some fundamental truths behind it for what it took to get it started and then to sustain it over the long haul - and, what I've always known is that stories are one of the best ways to share any kind of information; most of my audience are women dog lovers - some of whom are already running their own pet-friendly businesses; some of whom are casting around for that 2nd, 3rd or 4th professional reincarnation.
Thanks everyone else for your encouraging words - I'm not exactly sure how this happened - I still have to check Google Analytics - it will definitely be interesting to see what happens with interview #2.
That's cool Kathy! I love interviews- both doing interviews about people and reading them. Could just be because I'm nosy, but I like to think I learn something from them too!

Permalink Reply by Kathy H Porter on February 19, 2013 at 7:39pm It really surprised me - I have to think that the Social Media person who works for the bakery just might have had a hand in some of it....which is okay. I'll take it.
