Create Your Blog Strategy

Topic Progress:

It’s important to create a simple strategy before you create a blog. Understand that this will evolve and shift once you actually dive in and start blogging on a consistent basis. That is ok! That is actually a good thing. Sometimes the answers come in the doing. However, having a basic understanding of what your strategy is will get you started on the right foot.

Think about everything we went over in this lesson so far. Then, answer the following questions:

  • What is my why?
  • What is my niche?
  • Who is my ideal reader?
  • What will my blog be about?
  • What are the topics that I will blog about?

Then, take all of those answers and create a mission statement for your blog.  Your mission statement should include the focus of your blog, what readers can expect, and why you are qualified.

For example, I’ve been a dog trainer for ten years and want to share my expertise. My blog is about providing pet parents with simple and easy dog training tips that they can do themselves without the added expense of a dog trainer.

Or

I’ve worked in a cat clinic for many years and I’ve seen way too many cats mistreated due to irresponsible owners not providing proper healthcare. My blog will educate readers on responsible cat health care to help save lives.

Once you’ve written out your mission statement, brainstorm a list of potential blog posts that you can create. The purpose of doing this is to make sure you aren’t too broad or too specific in the mission of your blog. You now have the foundation of your blog strategy!

In the next lesson we’ll dive into the technical aspect of setting up a blog.

Ok, going to take a stab at this:
“With over three decades of knowledge and experience and a lifelong passion for big dogs, Big Dog Mom is a blog dedicated to large and giant breed dogs through educating, empowering, and entertaining the people who love them.”
What do you guys think? My goal is to have every blog post either educate, empower, or entertain fellow big dog lovers and as a result provide better care for their dogs.

“With a wealth of education and experience, in addition to having a large passion for canine behavior, Canine Companions is dedicated to assisting you with all of your canine behavior issues to assist your dog in living the best life possible.”

I have 45 years of experience as a pet professional in various fields. I would like to share what I have learned and help guide other pet parents into pet careers that match their personality and drive.

I am a mental health counselor with a passion for integrating therapy dogs in my effort to helping others comfortably discuss mental health and any of life’s challenges.
