Hello everybody! I’m new to Pinterest and wanted to ask if there were any tips or tricks that you found useful. I had a few questions too that I’d love if you could answer;
-What was the best way to get followers?
-What boards do you have?
-Does Pinterest bring more traffic/followers to your blog/social media pages?
Also, post your Pinterest name (email? I’m really new to Pinterest) so I can follow you. Thank you!

Hello,
In answer to your questions:
The best way to get followers is to provide relevant pins and to follow the boards/pins of others. Repinning also helps get your name out there and when you repin, you are showing someone the love — just like when you share or retweet and they’re more likely to follow your boards.
I recommend making boards that make sense to you. If you’re going to pin information/photos from blog posts you’ve written choose a few categories and make boards for those ie. Pet Blogging, Cat Friendly Topics, Social Media Tips, etc. It’s better to have fewer boards with great content than a hundred boards with only one or two pins.
Also, don’t forget to follow BlogPaws on Pinterest. We follow back! http://www.pinterest.com/blogpaws/

I love Pinterest! I acquired my followers over a lot of time, and did not get them overnight. Many are bloggers, but many are not. Mostly, I just try to pin nice images that go with useful content. And I’m not just pinning things from my own blog. I suppose these tactics are working out OK for me. I also wrote something about Pinterest for Pet Bloggers here – http://www.mypawsitivelypets.com/2014/01/pet-bloggers-guide-to-using-pinterest.html. It’s kind of a “for beginners” write-up where I share some of the ways I personally use Pinterest.
I have boards for many different types of pets, a board for adoptable pets, pet health, and “other” non-pet stuff. But I do try to keep it mostly related to pets.
And yes, it brings a large majority of traffic to my blog. Behind search engines and Twitter, it’s ranked #3 right now as a referral site to my blog.
I can be found @Pawsitively Pets there.

Pinterest is my # 1 referral for both of my websites. I pin a lot and I echo all of the tips already given above. I will only pin things that I REALLY like or think fit my brand/aesthetic.
My main Pinterest account is: http://www.pinterest.com/myicing/ I use this for both of my blogs, even though each blog has a different niche/audience. I do have a pet specific Pinterest account but I rarely pin from there. I set up “group” boards on my main one so I can just use one. I hope that makes sense! Here’s the other one: http://www.pinterest.com/irresistiblepet/

One way to make your Pinterest look great is to really customize your board covers! On Pinterest there are a ton of pins on how to do this.
Then once you know how to make custom covers, create a mood/theme with the type of photographs and/or colors you use for your board covers. It makes everything look very cohesive and professional. 😀 -
